For about five minutes it looked like Linda Cardellini would be the only ‘Freaks and Geeks’ alum to go on to anything big. However, in the years since the show’s cancellation, nearly everyone else in the cast but her has gone on to big things while she slowly disappears. Has she done anything at all since Scooby Doo? IMDB says she was in Brokeback Mountain, but apparently not in a role that was worth noticing. Meanwhile James Franco is in Spider-Man, Seth Rogen is about to star in Knocked Up, and Jason Segel is on the hit sitcom ‘How I Met Your Mother’.
It’s time that changed. We need more Cardellini. So good news: the babelicious former Velma has just landed a leading part in an indie drama called Heaven Project, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bad news: She’s starring opposite the acting anti-christ Paul Walker. She’ll have her work cut out for her.
Directed by the John Glenn who has never been to space, Heaven Project is about an ex-con (Walker) who is sentenced to death and receives his lethal injection. It doesn’t take, and he wakes up in a small Oregon town where he works as the groundskeeper for a mental hospital. He’s told he died and was given a second chance by God, but starts to wonder if he ever died at all. Cardellini will play the mental hospital’s administrator and his obligatory love interest.
