Ridley Scott’s next movie is going in for rewrites. The movie is Nottingham, an upside-down take on the classic Robin Hood story with the Sheriff of Nottingham cast as a sympathetic figure facing off against a not-so-heroic prince of Sherwood Forest.

Ridley is still set to direct and Russell Crowe is locked to star as the Sheriff, but the Hollywood Reporter says Brian Helgeland has been brought in to give the script a makeover. Helgeland has written movies like Mystic River and L.A. Confidential. The closest he’s gotten to this genre is the rock and roll powered Heath Ledger jousting movie A Knight’s Tale.

As long as Ridley and Russell are still attached, I’m interested. They both need a career recharge and getting together to put another sword it Russell Crowe’s hand could be just the thing they need.
