It’s not good to lie, but it’s even worse to get caught. Just ask
Senator John McCain, who was busted big time two weeks ago for standing up
David Letterman. Though Letterman hasn't let McCain off the hook publicly, apparently someone has waved the white flag.
McCain representatives and The Late Show execs are negotiating an appearance sometime around the final presidential debate on Oct. 15, reports the New York Post. Maybe the GOP candidate has gotten tired of the zingers Letterman has been nightly throwing his way.
McCain ticked off Letterman when he called the talk-show host personally to cancel a planned appearance, claiming he had to return to Washington to deal with the financial crisis. Instead, he was discovered sitting down with
Katie Couric for an interview. Letterman even aired an internal CBS News feed of McCain getting make-up applied t as he waited for the Couric interview to begin.
"He doesn't seem to be racing to the airport, does he?" Letterman asked viewers during the taping of his show. "I feel like we've caught him getting a manicure."
