It’s always nice to be right. Well, it’s not that we were right, but we did have a scooper that was right. Way back in July, we said that there would be a sequel to the hit comic book gun-porn adaptation, Wanted. In fact, we said there would be two sequels and gave some of the plot details. Now, four months later, at least a portion of our scoop is being confirmed.
Chris Morgan, one of the screenwriters for the first Wanted, has told MTV that he is writing the screenplay for Wanted 2. Morgan said, “Yes, I will be writing it. I’m actually leaving this conversation with you to go to a meeting with the director, Timur [Bekmambetov], and we’re talking about the story.” Our original scoop in July noted that the sequel was going “to take Wanted international, and have James McAvoy’s Wesley character fighting Fraternity cells all over the world.” Morgan was a bit light on plot details this month, but did say the story “is going to be opened up to be more global.”
There is no word in the MTV interview with Morgan about the third film that we mentioned in our scoop, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. Also, you may want to go back and read our info, since it is a little more detailed than Morgan’s vague plot synopsis of the sequel. “The point is to continue the journey that Wes started in the first film. Wherever he ended up at the end of the film, now it’s time to move him forward.” Couldn’t that be said about any sequel ever made?
