Despite all the constant rumors about an Arrested Development movie, the speculation hasn't really moved beyond excited fansites and websites like ours. But now even the major trades are saying the movie is getting close to actually happening. THR reports that the show's creator Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard are both closing deals with Fox Searchlight, with Hurwitz writing and directing with help from Howard.
Arrested Development fans were always used to being the underdogs, constantly worrying that their favorite show would be cancelled, so it's almost hard to believe that the movie could really and truly happen. Clearly the series stars are interested, as they've been telling pretty much anyone who asked over the past few months. So will it really be as easy as Howard and Hurwitz signing on? Call me paranoid, but I'm still afraid to get my hopes up.
