With The Darjeeling Limited about to open, director Wes Anderson has given out a few details about his next movie, which sounds like something of a departure. But don’t fret, he told MTV Movies Blog that The Fantastic Mr. Fox will still star some familiar Anderson players.
The movie will be an animated adaptation of the Roald Dahl book about a fox who steals poultry from three farmers. The farmers then try to take their revenge. Anderson confirmed that in addition to George Clooney voicing Mr. Fox, longtime Anderson stock troupe members Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman will have (unspecified) roles.
The animation will be stop-motion and Anderson compares the look to that of Nightmare Before Christmas. He also says that he will be going for a very natural setting with real tress and sand, but in miniature. The whole project sounds good, but with Anderson’s slightly off-kilter sense of humor and irony, there's really no telling what it will be. Things are just getting off the ground right now, so don’t expect anything in the theaters for a couple of years.
