Anna Faris Is Still A Funny Lady

Say what you will about House Bunny-- I never saw it, myself-- but you have to admit it's nice that a female comedian is actually able to carry a movie again. Anna Faris has been on the verge of blowing up big time for a long, long while, and now she's carrying over the House Bunny success for two new projects at both Paramount at Sony.

The first, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is an untitled pitch she wrote with Karen McCullah Lutz and Kristen Smith, the writers of House Bunny, about two sisters who team up to try to find husbands. The second, titled 20 Times a Lady, stars Faris as a woman trying to find the right man, and going back through her sexual past in the process.

What I like about these projects is they don't sound like the typical romantic comedies-- yes, they're all about finding a man, but they seem to place more importance than usual on the actual female characters, rather than just making them hungry for weddings and babies. I have faith in Faris, however misplaced that may be, and I'm crossing my fingers for a renaissance of female-driven comedies that don't make me want to kill myself and others.
