Given that most of the comedy in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was of the unintentional or groan-inducing variety, it's nice to hear Harrison Ford might be trying to be actually funny at some point in the future. While he did pester MTV with talk of an Indy 5, he also mentioned two other upcoming projects, including a comedy with nerd titan J.J. Abrams on board.
The MTV kids did some sleuthing on the Abrams project and figured out it's Morning Glory, a script written by Devil Wears Prada scribe Aline Brosh McKenna, about a female news producer tormented by an egomaniac veteran anchorman who shows up to revive her show. It sounds weirdly similar to the plot of the Katherine Heigl movie The Ugly Truth, except I guess instead of a hunky misogynist to fall in love with, Ford's character will be a silver fox misogynist to, I don't know, learn life lessons from?
Reese Witherspoon has been rumored for the role of the news producer, and I've got to say, I wouldn't mind seeing the two of them pair up. It'd be kind of a Han and Leia thing all over again, the high-strung powerful woman without time for shenanigans from the rakishly handsome Ford. If it's possible to bring a modern romantic comedy even a fraction of that kind of spark and wit, Ford and Witherspoon may just be able to do it.
