Oliver Stone Sticking With Politics

You can bet George W. Bush wouldn't appreciate any comparisons to Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, but clearly Oliver Stone finds something interesting in both of them. To follow up his somewhat twisted biopic of the 43rd President, Stone will direct a documentary about Chavez, planning to release it next year.

Stone told Variety about his intentions in pretty vague terms, saying, "It's about Chavez and the South American revolution." The movie will actually focus in at least some small part on Bush's opposition to the Venezuelan government, which will make for a weird parallel-universe conflict for Stone fans.

Turns out Stone has made documentaries in the past about leaders who aren't so popular in the U.S., including Fidel Castro and Yasser Arafat. And he's even planning another doc about Mahmoud Ahmadinejad-- just add Kim Jong Il and you've got pretty much the whole axis of evil. Just more proof that Oliver Stone will make a movie about whoever interests him, politics and partisanship be damned.
