Most Powerful Christians In Hollywood

Most Powerful Christians In Hollywood Though Pat Robertson and the Republican party seem think Hollywood is run by Scientologists and Jews, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Hollywood.com has put together a poll of the ten most powerful Christians in Hollywood… and their Bibles pack quite a whallop.

Here’s the list:

Some of the people on their list aren’t folks I’d instantly identify as Christian. I mean, Mel Gibson is obviously a whacko Bible-thumper and one look at Patricia Heaton tells you she’s pretty uptight, but you don’t often see Denzel Washington running around shoving Jesus in people’s faces. Actually, I think that’s what makes this list so interesting. Just because someone is Christian doesn’t mean they’re a wacko. Mel Gibson isn’t the only god-worshipper in a position of power. Denzel Washington and Martin Sheen are pretty normal.

They might however, want to bump Tyler Perry up a notch or two. The guy has developed a cult of devoted followers who seem to approach his movies as if they’re a church service and in many cases defend his films as if they’re ordained by God. While many of the people on that list are simply Christians who happen to be in positions of power, people like Perry and Gibson are using their religious beliefs as a way to make money and suck up followers. A large part of their power is derived from their religious fervor. They’re in a Christian class all their own.
1. Mel Gibson
2. Denzel Washington
3. Patricia Heaton
4. Tyler Perry
5. Ralph Winter
6. Angela Bassett
7. Martin Sheen
8. Martha Williamson
9. Kristin Chenoweth
10. Philip Anschutz
