Movie fans who attended the recent Butt-Numb-a-Thon got the chance to see My Bloody Valentine 3-D a few months ahead of schedule. The word has been pretty good for the most part, although these are the kinds of people the movie caters to - an audience for cult movies.
From what I’ve read, seeing the movie in 3-D is an absolute must, because without it, the movie falls into pretty standard slasher fare. It’s the 3-D that makes the movie. Watching this clip, online courtesy of MTV Movies Blog, I can’t say I’m surprised. Just in this minute or so of footage, look at how much stuff comes straight at the audience, from light beams to the thrown pickaxe. Honestly, it looks like the movie would really blow people away if they could make it a huge movie-going experience. Lights literally shining out into the audience at the appropriate time, sparks going off, etc.
Take a look at the clip below, which shows the serial killer of My Bloody Valentine in action, pursuing a group of kids, including one stupid boy who somehow runs so much slower than the rest of his friends that it’s laughable.
