Dane Cook is short $3 million dollars and his half-brother coincidentally is $3 million dollars richer.
A 43-year-old Wilmington man allegedly stole millions of dollars while working as the business manager for the comedian and actor Dane Cook, reports The Boston Globe.
Darryl McCauley, who is Cook's half-brother, is facing charges of larceny by continuous scheme, and forgery.
The attorney general's office announced the charges against McCauley this afternoon without identifying the "national entertainer with local ties" he allegedly bilked.
The Boston Globe reports, a friend of Cook's said McCauley was Cook's manager and state records identified McCauley as an official in Cook's company, Great Dane Enterprises Inc. Cook's attorney, Joseph Zwicker, had no comment, but said he planned to attend McCauley's arraignment Wednesday in Woburn District Court.
McCauley was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 30., without incident at his home by State Police assigned to the attorney general's office. The office said it began an investigation about two weeks ago.
McCauley allegedly stole the money from July 2007 to this month, at one point forging a $3 million check from his client's account to himself, the attorney general's office said.
