I never would have guessed that, the next time we saw any new images from Where the Wild Things Are, it would be on the bottoms of skateboards. But apparently director Spike Jonze is uninterested in our usual methods of distributing images, and decided to issue a special line of skateboards from his company, Girl Skateboards Company, with images from his movie on them.
Slashfilm got their hands on images of the boards, each of them featuring a different monster from the film. Personally I had no idea all the "wild things" would look so different-- I remember them all looking fairly similar in Sendak's book. Not that I didn't expect a huge amount of imagination to be part of this, given Jonze's involvement, but I don't think I was prepared for creatures so detailed and elegant.
Check out smaller images of the boards below. The project still seems to be in limbo, without an actual release date, but images like these only make the general public even more excited to see this bizarre, possibly wonderful movie.
