Daniel Day-Lewis and
Benicio Del Toro are not keeping quiet in regards to starring in
Martin Scorsese's Silence, reports Variety.
The news follows a report in the New Zealand Herald last week that said Scorsese had been eyeing New Zealand as a shooting locale for the film which is expected to begin production later this year.
Gael Garcia Bernal is also circling the film.
Silence is based on the 17th-century set Shusaku Endo novel about two Jesuit priests who face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
The film would make a hat trick for Scorsese and Day-Lewis who previously teamed for Gangs of New York and The Age of Innocence.
Graham King, with whom Scorsese has worked on The Departed, The Aviator and Gangs, is financing.
