Usually it's the male globe-hopping thieves who get to have all the fun, like Frank Abagnale in Catch Me If You Can or the inimitable Thomas Crown. And while the last time Halle Berry tried a guy-type role on for size, the role was Catwoman, we should be a little more optimistic about Who Is Doris Payne, in which she'll play a real-life jewel thief.
Why should we be more optimistic? Well, it can't get much worse than Catwoman, can it? Variety doesn't have any details about the story other than that Eunetta Boone, a writer for shows like My Wife and Kids and One on One, is writing the screenplay. Will this be Halle's chance to get us to take her seriously again? Even if it's just a global, thieving romp, it could still be a chance for her to shine again.
