It seemed for a while that the third Narnia movie, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, wouldn't be happening at all, given that Prince Caspian wasn't quite the hit that Disney was hoping for. Now that Fox Walden and 20th Century Fox have stepped in to distribute the movie, though, production seems to be going right ahead. Michael Petroni, a screenwriter who has done some rewrites for the studio in the past, will be in charge of the screenplay, according to Variety.
Petroni will be revamping a draft by Richard LaGravanese, the writer-director of Freedom Writers and P.S. I Love You. Not sure what happens when two writers work on a script that's based on another author's work anyway, but given how true the first two movies were to C.S. Lewis' original books, I can't imagine there's a whole lot to be changed. But at least Narnia fans can be glad that the third movie will actually be made, even if it's looking increasingly likely that this will be the last Narnia movie we see.
