Just when you thought it was finally time to unclench your fists and stop complaining about The Dark Knight not winning every possible award in the universe, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror have announced their nominees for the 2008 Saturn Awards. Unsurprisingly, Batman and company led the pack with 11 nominations, including a nod for the top priz of best action/adventure/thriller film.
That top category is so broad, apparently, that includes one of the strangest assortments of 2008 films I've seen yet. TDK is competing against Changeling, Gran Torino, Quantum of Solace, Traitor and Valkyrie-- or rather, all of those films will be happy just to be nominated while TDK walks away with the prize. Iron Man, which I would have expected to see in that top category, still managed eight nods, according to THR.
The awards won't be handed out until June 25, and at that point we'll already be getting pumped about new stuff like Terminator: Salvation and Wolverine. But hey, nothing like dragging out the Batman mania until nearly a year after its release. Before too long we'll be inventing awards to give these guys.
