I haven’t seen enough live-action footage to decide if I’m all that interested in seeing Where the Wild Things Are. I mean, I’m interested because this is one of my favorite childhood stories brought to life. I just don’t know how well I think that vision is going to be brought to life by director Spike Jonze.
Even without seeing the movie in action, I have to admit the stills I’ve seen have captured the story completely. Take the new one sheet for the movie, which appears in Nick Magazine and was captured by Coming Soon. Max looks like the wild child he should be, and I love the fact that we’re not seeing the entire monster… he just doesn’t fit completely on the poster. And that tagline, “There’s one in all of us.” Well, if that doesn’t capture what the story was about, I don’t know what would.
I still don’t know if Jonze has the right idea in making this movie, but it seems like Warner Brothers’ marketing people really know how to sell this picture. Rumor has it, we’ll get to spy some of the actual movie this weekend as well, so it might be time to start getting excited about Where the Wild Things Are.
Check out a larger scan of the poster over at Coming Soon.
