For the truly obsessed among us, the Oscars feel like an annual rite, an event as reliable and constant as the moon, always there at the tail end of winter to provide us with some glamour and inevitably terrible choices for awards. But the Oscar schedule has actually been shuffled around a lot in its 80+ years, and it's happening again for the 2010 ceremony, which will happen two weeks later in the year than this year's Feb. 22 ceremony.
Sunday, March 7 will be the day to tune in next year, giving room for ABC to finish up its coverage of the Winter Olympics before rolling out the red carpet. Variety has the entire new schedule, which includes a later date for the nominations announcement-- February 2. None of the changes are all that remarkable, at least compared to that time they switched the date from late March to late February. This just gives us all more time to catch up on the movies we missed-- unless we're too distracted by bobsledding or ice dancing or whatever other winter sport we choose.
