Judd Apatow is going above and beyond for Funny People. He’s not just shooting a movie, he’s also shooting a fake TV show within the movie. It stars Jason Schwartzman and it’s called “Yo Teach!” and it’s coming on NBC (in some alternate universe) on Thursdays this fall. In fact they’ve already set up an entire website for the show over on NBC.com, complete with promos, photos, and a big chunk of an entire episode, which you can watch below.
For anyone who spent some time in front of a television during the late 80s and early 90s, this premise should seem pretty familiar. Think Head of the Class meets Saved y the Bell and you’ll get the vibe here. I know it’s supposed to be intentionally lame, but after being taught life’s important lessons by Mr. Moore and Mr. Belding "Yo Teach!" gets me all nostalgic for simpler times when shitty television was the norm and everyone seemed to be just fine with that.
