It’s been quite awhile since we’ve heard anything about the status of Pirates of the Caribbean 4. In the interim, both Disney and Johnny Depp have loaded up with high-profile projects like The Lone Ranger. That doesn’t however mean, that Pirates 4 isn’t still everyone’s top priority.
Coming Soon caught up with Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer who assured them that it’s still all about more Pirates movies. Bruckheimer says, “A beloved character and Johnny's really excited about coming back to Captain Jack. He certainly is interested in Tonto, but Disney's priority is to get 'Pirates' made first. You never know what's going to happen, but they would like it.”
According to Jerry, Pirates 4 is currently being written by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot. Other than its “a whole new way of going” he didn’t however, offer any specifics about what they’re up to for this one. Still, if you’re a Pirates fan it’s nice to know that it’s till top dog over at Disney. There’s even a chance, according to Bruckheimer, that Gore Verbinski might be lured into changing his mind and returning for the fourth film. Why not? After all Verbinski originally left to make Bioshock and the last word on Bioshock was that the project had stalled, leaving plenty of time for Gore to set sail again if he wants to.
