The internet, long a bastion for hearsay, misrepresentations, lies and the occasional hard truth, has buzzed today with a rumor involving the dude who played Frost in Frost/ Nixon and the twenty-third James Bond installment. The Daily Express claims, get this, Michael Sheen is going to reboot the Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld who was in From Russia With Love, Thunderball and a few others in no way as good as Goldfinger.
We haven’t been able to get anyone to confirm this, and one source, MI6 has already come out and decreed bullshit based on the complications of acquiring ownership rights alone. But stranger things have happened. Bond movies make dollar bills, ya'll at the box office, and I’m sure spending a few of them to get back the classic Dr. Evil character once played by the bald hunk from Kojak would not be a problem. Plus, Michael Sheen has done everything from play Tony Blair to star in British made for TV movies. And Frost/ Nixon writer Peter Morgan is working on Bond 23.
More likely than the Heaven’s Gate Cult actually finding Hale-Bopp Comet, less likely than getting one to three more Austin Powers’, don’t run to Vegas with this information yet.
