Well me and my uncle have been setting up various systems around our house and i got a new pc in my room. well we have it connected to a router which is also connected to another system in the same room the one in my room and the main one are running XP the older one is running 2000. well the Main on recently lost its "ability" to see the other pc's and i was wondering what could cause this. my uncle actually has a degree in computer engineering and it stumps him. we have tried everything and we have no clue what to do. The thing is the pc with 2000 on it can see mine but not the main one. if anyone could help it would be great!

hi....

we begin from the problem side pc,renew your ip by repair option,or try from the command prompt ipconfig/release ,then ipconfig/renew,after this try to ping the other pc, if there is no reply check weather the cable is properly fixed on the both ends/try to interchange the cable, another thing is restart the router and the modem and try it...

and finally check your nic card is in working condition by pinging 127.0.0.1 if you get the reply then your nic card is working, try to change the cable if not working ok try this , problem will solve....
