Well, this is depressing news. A new short review from the Fresnobee for the final moments of Prison Break suggests that the audience might be very unhappy. Here's the review:

 

It always seemed like the worst thing that could happen with a television series was for it to end without a proper finale. There may be something worse. The two-hour series finale of "Prison Break," to air at 8 p.m. Friday, wraps up events that have unfolded during the show's four-year run on Fox. But the ending is grossly unsatisfying.

 

"Prison Break's" first season was masterful. It featured a complicated story line about genius brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) getting himself tossed in jail to help his brother, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). Each week built tension. That first season of "Prison Break" was television at its finest.

 

Then the brothers escaped and the quality began to fade until eventually the series ended up in a muddled mess of backstabbing in this fourth and final season. While this past year has been a chore to watch because of the illogical twists and turns, the promise of a proper finale was appealing.

 

Fox has asked that no specific details of the two-hour finale be revealed. Fine. It would be unfair to take away the fun that comes with each revelation. It is safe to say that the battle between the brothers and their psychotic mother (Kathleen Quinlan) is wrapped up. More mercifully, the silly battle over the device known as Scylla comes to an end. And the fate of all of the supporting cast is revealed. There are even a few surprises. You'll just have to watch to find out the details.

 

The fact there is a final chapter to "Prison Break" is great. It is the epilogue to that ending that is so infuriating. Television viewers are asked to invest in characters. We grow to like them. That relationship is important for a show to keep going past a few episodes. This finale makes me wish I had stopped watching "Prison Break" after the first season. What happens is hard to explain without giving away key plot points. All I can say is it is a slap in the face. It's criminal when a series that started so strong leaves viewers with such an unappealing ending.

 

Clarissa: You know what this means, don't you, guys? It probably means that the rumors surrounding [highlight if you want to be spoiled] Michael's death is probably true. And this review is right. Why get so invested in the characters if that's going to happen?

 

According to a Sky One program schedule, the two-hour bonus episode of Prison Break, which has been entitled "The Final Break" will be airing in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, May 26. This is all very curious because there's no news of it airing anywhere in North America. In fact, it's supposed to be coming to DVD in Canada and the US in July 2009. So....if this is true and the UK gets to see these extra episodes before those of us on the other side of the pond, then someone, please, needs to post it on the net and send me a link.

      Here's the promo for the Prison Break two-hour series finale, which will be airing on Friday. Some old characters return, Christina continues to be a horrible mother and Michael vows to save everyone.

 

 

 

      In tonight's episode Michael and Lincoln are trapped in the hotel following Banerjee's assassination. Michael, of course, devises a plan to get them out of there. He's helped by one of Pad Man's goons, who wants Michael all to himself. Well, actually, he brings both Michael and Lincoln back to Pad Man, who is very upset about the fact that the boys still don't have Scylla. To show them he means business, he kills the loved one of one of the boys, but I'm not going to tell you who. Michael, Lincoln and Mahone go pull off the worst bank robbery ever but still manage to get Scylla from Christina and Downey (you'll see what I mean).

 

      Christina, meanwhile, has been very busy, pitting India against China and China against India. And she's getting paid handsomely for all of her scheming. Meanwhile, T-Bag gets sucked deeper into the Company fold when he goes after Sara in order to ensure they have leverage over Michael. And, by the end of the episode, both Christina AND Pad Man each have someone Michael loves. So who's it going to be Michael? The man who's been your brother all your life or that hot prison doctor you've known for about 4 months? Oh yeah, she's carrying your child, but you don't actually know that yet....

      Don't forget, there's a new episode of Prison Break on tonight....sadly, the final episode before the series finale next week. Here's a short synopsis of what will happen: On the run from a crime they didn't commit, Michael and Linc are trapped in a luxury hotel with the authorities closing in. Meanwhile, Christina advances her apocalyptic agenda... Pandemonium erupts at the hotel following an assassination at the global energy conference, and Michael must choose between saving either Sara or Lincoln.
