The First picture i saw turned out to be this tall dude kissing this little girl on the lips in which i called this anime the pedophile paradise.
However the short one turned out to be his age....i have to stop judging so quickly. This anime actually become my favorite of all time in the romance department. I watched it on youtube, downloaded it, torrented it, burned it, lost it, burned it again, then hid it from my brother lol. 
The story takes place in a northern part of Japan based on the city of Moriguchi and Sapporo. Yuichi, the main protagonist arrives by train back to the snowfell city where his cousin Nayuki rushes to him because she is late. Yuichi who has the sensitivity of a hammer goes around teasing people alot however shown to have a soft side to him. He also cannot remember anything that happened when he visited the town 10 years ago and his memory fluctuates throughout the story. After a few days settling in he decides to go with Nayuki shopping in the town district in which he stays outside anyway and doesn't help at all. Nayuki is calm and always smiling and has a hidden crush on Yuichi even though they are cousins....seems that cousin on cousin is allowed 
. Nothing wakes her and when she is awake her face scares me. As he waits a very short looking girl rushes into him and spills her bag of taiyuki on the floor. After watching higurashi i don't feel comfortable whenever i see a loli. 
Maybe....its watermelon...just..maybe. anyway....
Ayu turns out to be the main heroine and is running after she steals the taiyuki but it turns out to be a misunderstanding after Yuichi drags her back. Ayu always says Uguu when something negative happens in a very kawaii voice :D. He attends his first day of school and meets Mai and Saiyuri. After school he bumps into Ayu again in the same manner...doing the same thing (loli theif). They later bump into Shiori who fell to the ground after Ayu's clumsiness. Shiori is the nice girl with the tons of secrets and sad past that gets to you eventually. Later on Yuichi gets attacked by Makato who later collapses into the snow and has amnesia. Makato is mostly angry at Yuichi for no reason but slowly begins to accept her feelings for him. Everytime i type her name im sad for some reason :(. Soon after he meets Mai standing in the school around midnight with a sword staring at the moon. I never found the song that played while she stood there. Always quiet and mysterious as she dances around with the sword causes trouble and breaking windows. She deeply cares for her friend Saiyuri and gains more emotions later throughout the story.
Romance, Drama, 2 much tragedy, heartbreak x4, and the occasional "zomg! is that dude kissing a child?"
kinda thing makes this anime worthwhile to any viewer. Also....fear the Jam. The Jam trys to pwn and own at the same time :(.
