There are a lot of factors that need to be considered when choosing contact lenses. Your age, vision problems, lifestyle, work or play environment, budget and several others. Another factor that needs to be taken into account when you are choosing a contact lens is the weather you live. Much to your surprise, the weather can have a great affect on your contact lenses. Let us find out how different weather conditions affect contact lenses.

Dust is the weather condition that is dreaded by all contact lenses. Ask any contact lens wearer and he/she will agree that dust is by far the most uncomfortable weather condition for contact lenses. All those who are wearing hard corrective lenses should be specifically wart of the dust. The reason for the same is that dust gets trapped in these lenses and can be very painful.

In order to avoid dust from getting in touch with your lenses, it is advised that you wear sunglasses on dusty days. Also you must rinse your contact lenses every few hours if the weather is dusty. This will help wipe away all the dust from the lens and keep it clean.

Heat also has an equal affect on your contact lens. In areas where temperature is quite high, keeping the lenses moisturized becomes quite a task. The lenses can dry out owing to hot weather conditions making your eyes dry as well.

When coupled with dry air, heat can be even more evasive. The reason for the same is that both dry air and heat tend to suck out the moisture from your eyes. To avoid heat from affecting your contact lenses, it is advised that you use rewetting drops after every few hours.

Though no weather is as such unsafe fro contact lenses, certain precautions need to be exercised in every season or climate. Every kind of weather has some or the other affect on your contact lens. But you can reduce or minimize the amount of impact that weather has on your contact lenses by adhering to certain precautionary measures.
