A port is not something you can open only a program or something like a router can open. You can only DESIGNATE ports to be opened. When I have 5 dowloads going I get combined speeds of 900 - 1200 kb/s. If I have just one usually it is 500 - 600 kb/s and many times I have seen it over that up to 800kb/s \. I havent ever heard of any thing faster if there is I wish someone would enlighten me as to how lol. I also have a 6 bedroom house and never seen a difference in my wireless or hard wired speeds, so the people that say it is slower are very very wrong. The only time my down load speeds are slower is when I am in a hotel, mall, or similar wi - fi hot spot. Home routers have a limited area connection so when you go out of range they cut off. In my house I can go any where and even in my yard a bit, so usually in a 2-4 bed room house I know people shouldnt have any problems. I even go in my basement wirelessly. I guess its how some may have theirs set up or if they are on a hot spot because I have noticed some hotel hotspots wont even allow ports to open they have what is called a port blocker that will block other incoming ports to you computer. indeed check ur port color yellow unreachable, green is good, check portforwarding see what router u use or checking knowledge base from manufacter of the router thats what helped me.. good luck
