1. Bitcomet version 1.13, i was having the same problem in version 1.12,

so i upgraded

2. Windows XP SP3

3. i just changed to my new wireless router ADSL 2+ Dlink DSL-2640T

4. My listening port successfully forwarded, all green light

Last time before i upgrade the windows XP service pack and before i changed to my new wireless router, I was using Bitcomet 1.1, i don't even have to tweak it. Every configuration is "unlimited" and i still got the best download speed. After those two upgrades, problem starts.

I tried to download the TCIP patch, but AVG doesn't allow me to continue despite i choose ignore. Then, i stumble upon this website http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/2007/09/10/stop-bittorrent-from-killing-your-internet-connection I followed all the instructions and set my maximum connections to 50 since 100 doesn't work for me. Am ready glad everything sorted out.

Now, i'm thinking which is the problem, my new router or that windows SP3 upgrade.... Hope this helps whoever got the same problem like me : ) TQ for your kind intention to help me, sirstar.

You had a very common problem. Your router was unable to handle the large number of connections necessary for efficient bittorrent downloading.

It sounds like you resolved the problem by limiting the max number of connections that bitcomet makes. Although this will stop the problem, it also will slow down bitcomet. Your best place to start would have been to look for a firmware update for your router. Since Dlink is a major manufacturer of routers, they most likely have identified this problem and issued a firmware to resolve it.

If no firmware update is available, then your limited to using less connections, or replacing the router.

I'm having a similar problem.

But I don't think it's a router problem, since other computers in the network are not affected.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 and BitComet 1.13.

The problem existed with older BitComet versions as well.

The problem does not seem to affect all ports and application.

For instance, an active Java application does not get disconnected, and telnetting to some ports is still possible.

I'm not at this PC at the moment, so I haven't tried the suggested solutions yet, but will they help, since other PC's are not affected?

I have that problem also but I think it is my computer's problem with a Pentium 4 processor that is unable to handle all those internet connection since I am using a D-Link DIR655, my listening port is properly fowarded with Windows XP SP3.

if you are using wireless change the channel to a higher one, otherwise lower the max connections in options/advanced. if this does not help then you should talk to your internet provider.

I guess I found out the solution for my problem which is not connecting to the internet when using Microsoft Internet Explorer. But I've seen it connect when BitComet is downloading at 40kB/s. I now changed to using Mozilla Firefox because it loads pages faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 10x.
