IP Address Problems

I am using a Dlink 655 router and i have some problems with my ip. I created a static IP 192.168.x.xxx and went to the dlink site to work out the d link port forwarding. But when i go to turn on Bit COmet, the listen port is still blocked. I look and it says 70.29.27.67.25145. But when i looked at my ip from the Internet Protocol, the IP is still 192.168.x.xxx. Its not the first time I port forwarded, I just had to do this again because something happened with my internet and blocked it again. So I am quite sure my procedures are correct, but why is my IP different. My computer says one but Bitcomet says another. Any help would be much appreciated

HI,THE IP IN BITCOMET IS YOUR PC IP ADRESS AND THE OTHER IP IS THE ROUTER'S IP ADRESS ,192.168.1.1 IS YOUR ROUTER NUMBER 192.168.1.1 EVERYONE HAVE THAT IP NUMBER . THIS IS YOUR PC IP ADRESS 70.29.27.67. AND THIS IS YOUR PORT NUMBER 25145

it sould be sound like this.

IP 192.168.XXX.XXX is the local network IP address. It will not be change. When you check out from your PC, it will always same.

70.29.27.67 is your WAN IP address. It was assign by your Internet service provider (ISP). They are using Dynamic IP. the IP that you see from lower right corner of bitcomet is from your ISP.

In bitcomet, you can fix your port number (eg. 25145) and forward that port in Dlink to your computer ip (e.g 192.168.1.2) Try also to open that port in your computer firewall. Some computer antivirus / internet security software also will block for firewall.

192.168.1.1 is your router ip, this will never change.

70.29.27.67 is your wan ip. You get this from your internet provider.

now you need to change you port number to something new and port forward your ip again. go to www.portforward.com for instuctions on how to do this.

second, this is a bad idea to have your ip address on the internet get this off as soon as possible, you are increasing your chances of getting caught if you are flashing your ip address around.

I am a bit lost now because when i go into ipconfig, it says my ip starts with 192.xxx, the same one that i created in internet protocol. Does that mean that the static ip i created is not the correct one? or its being override by my internet provider?

(Sorry, bout all the questions, not really a computer guy)

you have 2 IP.

one is local IP and the other one is WAN -which other can see from internet.

Now you have 192.168.1.X for your computer. you (dlink) router has 192.168.1.1 (I belive).

This IP will only accetable in you local network, who connect physically to your local RJ45 port.

At the same time, you router has 70.29.27.67 which was assign from your internet provider. It would be change everytime you reboot/restart your router. Unless you pay extra to your internet provider to have fixed IP.

This ip will be seen by others through internet. In-order for other to access your computer, you need to open the firewall to let them in. But you will hwve a risk of being hack by others as well.

70.29.27.67 = WAN IP

192.168.1.X = LAN IP

open the port direct to ur LAN IP address.

Or try using Upnp.

hi,

i was havin dat prob. too .so, let me tell u, first go to run and type "cmd" after dat write "ipconfig" it will tell abt ur ip address!

for the port forwarding ,open ur router account, type 192.168.1.1 on the add. bar.then it will ask u for "user name" and "the password" den click on "NAT" den click virtual server, after dat click "add"...fill up as i wrote to u!

1.torrent

2.external port - 6881:6889

3. protocol-tcp/udp

4. internal port-6881:6889

5.ip add. - ur ip address!!!(192.168.1.xx)

i mean ur computers ip add.!

den open bItcomet and click options, listen port - (put any no. b/w 6881 to 6889) like as mine "6885",restart ur router...i hope it'll work, coz it worked to me too!

have a nice day bro!

REMEMBER

192.168.1.1 IS UR DEFAULT GATEWAY!!

AND 192.168.1.XX IS UR OWN IP ADDRESS!!!!!

bro... it easy....

u just portforward ur bitcomet port (25145) on your router setting... with ur ip from your router 192.168.x.xxx... thats all....

it is no necessary for you to think about your actually ip address on bitcomet, that is a business between your router and the internet outthere (dont make yourself dizzy bro),

so just portforward that.... just a click....

and...

about your static ip.... i think is no need to static that on your computer, specially if u using a router... why? bcoz your ip is the ip from router...! not from your internet domain....

if you want make it static, supposed to be you doing that in your router setting.... not on your computer.....

hope this will help....

(i also new in this things bro, sorry if i wrong)

Thanks a lot, all u guys, but no luck

Here are some pics for u all to see

1)this is the ipconfig,

2)I already created a new static ip adress

3) I went on the d-link page and save the portfoward setting with the proper listening port

4) Somehow the program just doesn't use that ip, but the listen port is the same

In you case, it might be you window firewall block the port insteed of router firewall.

I try to make a picture from my pc fr othe windows firewall. you need to put the port under exceptions if you had enable windows firewall. I'm not sure it using TCP of UDP, so myself i had open both under windows firewall as well.
