IM sorry, need help again.

I've downloaded the BitComet 1.13.

Mine is windows XP 2000

Belkin router, the latest, router and modem together.

My Bitcomet kept on auto switching off, when I turn it on at 9.00pm, woke up at 7, and the BitComet is gone.

It does not have any warning or what.

How can I stop this problem?

Help...

did it auto switch off before your eyes? assuming that you have left your pc on with only bitcomet running maybe your pc rebooted. this may also be a hardware problem (mb,ram, hdd, cpu, etc) or your pc overheated. hoping this is not the case you should run registry cleans at least monthly and reboot after each one.

Hi,

It sounds like something is conflicting with bitcomet on your computer. First of all, can you tell me what version of windows you use, because windows XP and windows 2000 are two different operating systems. You can't use both at the same time.

I know Windows XP has an "event viewer", that you can enable, and look to see if windows logged an "event" at the time bitcomet crashes. I'm not sure if windows 2000 has this or not (can't remember), but I can look it up if you use 2000.

Also, can you please go to "start" and "run" then type in "msconfig" and look at your "startup" list.

In that list, you can post screenshots here for us to review, or you can simply disable all programs that you don't use EVERY TIME you start your computer.

Disabling a program startup doesn't mean you can't run the program, it just stops it from starting everytime you start windows. Disabling all that you don't need running will stop many conflicts, and increase system performance.

Reply to TUUS : Sorry for the wrong info.

MY PC is Windows XP Home Edition 2002, not 2000.

Service Pack 2.

The screenshots are below.

Hope you guys can really help me.

Thank you so much.

I'm sorry, but I don't see any screenshots on your post.

Here is a link to using event viewer in windows XP

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/snap_event_viewer.mspx?mfr=true

Please clear any current events, and look at your logs after you experience this problem.

Please disregard event 4226, this is normal when caused by bittorrent downloading.

Also, as I suggested before, disable all programs from startup if you don't need them running EVERY time your computer starts.

Ok, when the topic refreshed, your screenshots appeared. You have tons of stuff loading that you don't need.

I see you have a logitec webcam, please disable that from startup, I suspect that is the problem, and I'm sure it won't be much of a problem for you if it takes a min or two longer to load when you choose to use it.

Also, I doubt you use "rollercoaster tycoon" every time your computer starts.

These software publishers feel their program is the only reason your using the computer, and having so many things startup only makes your computer take forever to boot up, as well as making it low on resources, and unstable.

Just go down that list and uncheck anything you don't need, like adobe updater, that will run when you start an adobe program, and the msn messenger you can start when you want to use.

When you save the changes, windows will restart in diagnostic mode, and give you the option to undo the changes, or you can save them by selecting not to load msconfig when it starts next.

I have a feeling your system will boot faster, and run more reliably after you have done this.

if you are not sure what to remove from that list open a browser and google each startup program with the .exe extension ex: hpwuschd2.exe and the first or the second result will tell you what to do.
