Who needs a union? I don't think Pine Profiles needs a union, a new business, it's been up and running for 3 1/2 years. Its a remanufacturing plant. We make tongue and groove flooring and paneling, not the laminated crap, but actual hardwood. So it has your basic, milling machines, Moulder/planer, trimsaws, grader, pilers, forklift drivers, packagers, loading trucks, safety rep., first aid, millwright. You know just the basic people to run an average mill.
We have 12 people that work there right now. The one who manupulated 80% of the crew to vote "yes", isn't even there. Ever since this hole bull shit union actually happened and the votes came back 11/9, he hasn't come back. He claims he he hurt himself at work, but that's bulll shit, as the first aider I know it's bullshit, and yes I did let my employer know, and yes I documented it.
Okay back to my question, Why the hell do we need a union? Do you think a little dinky mill needs a union? We have benefits, dental, medical, covers the typical things. We get paid 10hrs on Statuary holidays, we get 15 minute breaks, it's bi-weekly cheques. I don't see a problem, that is that bad enough to bring a union in to a place like this.
Jeez....I'm glad I didn't vote yes.
