I will be my own destruction

So here I am, after much deliberation on what I should write, with my idea ready to explode. I thank all of the community who has supported me in process of me trying to stop smoking. In reply to that I can say proudly that it has been a week without a cigarette. I would like to thank rama1 in particular for his great advice. Read his comment on my previous blog if you would like to know what he said. Today I am going to discuss a new topic, one that might offend some people and to others it might mean nothing, but I do believe that our entire existence is to destroy ourselves in the end. Why do I say this? What are the scenes that play a role in this statement? It is simple really. We thrive to excel. That is our purpose. We will do anything to survive and we will impress even ourselves when we come to life threaten situations. That is our purpose for existing. To survive. Now, where does this all lead to? We cannot survive without resources, regardless of what they are be it food, water, soil, air or anything else you can add to the list. But we are running out of resources.Where will this lead? That is a severely complicated question but they all end the same, they all lead to an end. There is only so much water, so much food, so much trees and so forth. I applaud our research and development teams around the world with the way they are handling things, recycling, the planting of trees (Arbor Day), the laws on pollution etc. BUT, how long can we postpone the inevitable? How long before a particular resource runs dry? Ten years? Fifty? A hundred? A thousand? If we are not to suffer our children will, and if they are not their children will. In the end a generation will suffer and further along the line, a generation will come to a halt. I fear this, and it keeps me awake some nights. If we do not act someone will suffer. I cannot allow this happen. I do my part, I recycle, I donate money to starving people in Africa, I never leave waste lying around, and I plant trees on a regular basis. I love the environment, I love the people on it and I love my planet.I am not a hippy, tree huger or anything like that; I am Damion Sortek who is just concerned about where my children will live in the future. What do you do? Please let me know what you think, maybe I am just being paranoid. Peace.
