Construction Progress & Video Collection Expansion

Well we have finally moved into our new home!

And it has given us two things, a lot of space and a lot of extra work.

We are not finished with all construction yet as we still have to redecorate/renovate the storage/workshop building. Also we did not start with finalizing the library. However all this has to be finished within about 9 months, as we are expecting a baby around that time and the baby-room that is now still our temporary library has to be finished by that time.

We have been successful with expanding our video collection during the last couple of months as there have been a lot of nice sales promotions in the area. Also it's amazing how much free content there is out there. Classic movies and television shows that I thought I would never acquire, have been neglected by their studios and have entered the public domain.

Series that have slowly grown to completion within the Van Rixtel Archive, include Abbott & Costello, Danny Kaye, The Marx Brothers, Laurel & Hardy, and (something you might not expect) Godzilla. We also hope to soon have the complete Bud Spencer & Terrence Hill series of movies.

Still in progress of expansion are the collections starring Charles Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and many other silent era stars.

Also our library of printed materials and postcards is growing, and we are lucky to have found many nice shops and stores that ask a fair price for there merchandise, and also hold regular sales.

In the not so distant future we also hope to start an online service for the support of acquiring collectors' items in a large range of products. You would be amazed what products made it to the obscure "antique" shops of Thailand. This will be one of the featured services on the Website of The Van Rixtel Archives that should be ready somewhere in the second half of 2010.

We will keep you informed on these proceedings.
