The Power of a Smile,
In this day and age where in everyone is making a fast buck as it seems and when you try your best to get to the top. It is good to see that sometimes, there are still people out there who are old fashioned and are willing to help others and just be a overall nice guy.
One friend told me that one thing that always makes him get through the day is the smile of his kids when he gets home from long tedious hours at work. Nothing is more true than this statement. Although I don't have any kids (a wife or even a girlfriend for that nature), you just instinctively smile at people when they smile at you. Kind of like a yawn, it's very infectious. One yawns in the train and you can see that almost half of the patrons would be following suit. (Am I correct?)
So is the smile. A perfectly timed smile will diffuse a very difficult situation. Not a Cheshire Cat kind of smile (sarcastically smiling as if the cat had eaten the mice while the owner of hamster was away) but a genuine smile. This is one of the most powerful things that a mere person could do to another.
Sure you could give them a million dollars or so but not everyone has the capacity to do just that or else we wouldn't be working out butts off almost everyday to achieve this goal. But, everyone, has the ability to smile. A genuine, all out friendly, I don't know you but I am smiling, I am not a weirdo but I just like smiling because a funny thought came to me, a knowing albeit uncommon feature of the face in the morning kind of smile. (I think you would have gotten the drift by now).
So as the work piles up on your desk and the kids are crying, shouting, listening to their mobile/cell phones playing the latest bass busting rap album in your vicinity, as your car doesn't start because the clutch won't engage the gears, as your room is a mess because you have visitors in the house you are living in and they don't speak fluent english and you are scared to go out of your room because they might attack you thinking your are a burglar in your own home, as the neighbor's dog decides that he wants your front yard as the dumping ground for his defecating offspring, as the leaves in your back yard are so plentyful that they overflow your gutter system making the water seek no other entry but inside your back patio during that odd thunderstorm that happens during the worst days of your life... SMILE.
Things might turn around and you might find yourself having a chuckle and looking at things in another perspective.
