For once, I'm not here to tell you out how some guild has given an award to No Country for Old Men. That's right! The American Cinema Editors got together yesterday and gave their awards to The Bourne Ultimatum, for drama, and Sweeney Todd, for comedy. Roderick Jaynes, the pseudonym used by the Coen Brothers when they edit their own work, will have to wait for his award to put on his imaginary bookshelf.
The Bourne award is a bit of a surprise, but not entirely given that the kinetic action movie gets much of its excitement from the frenetic editing. Given that No Country remains the front-runner in the Oscar race, though, Bourne might not be able to repeat the same success at the Oscars. Still, hey, the Oscars aren't all that matters! Bourne and Sweeney have been rewarded for excellent work, and let's leave it at that!
