My Atheistic ways:
Give me a reason to believe in God. I'm not a troll, I used to believe in him, but I have recently thought about it.
My parents say that God put a house over my head and food on my table. Besides the fact that it's completely illogical to say that, it's completely probable that an atheist built or designed my house as well as grew, harvested and processed my food. What do Catholics do that athiests cannot? Love? No. Show kindness? No. Waste time on things that they cannot prove no matter how hard they try? Yes.
You could say that all I have to do is trust that God exists, feel him in my heart. But I cannot and I do not. I need proof, I'm sure if God was the all knowing entity he has been portrayed as he would understand my logic and accept that without solid evidence I cannot believe in his existence.
Think about it. If you had never heard of God before, if it were a completely new concept to you (Similar to how it was for the people who were introduced to God by missionaries, except, unlike them, you are a fully educated man of science) would you be able to believe? Is there any way that a Catholic could prove that their God has done things for people that your own kindness and science have not? No, it would just be an illogical waste of time. The love is there, of course it is. But they have their share of wars and death as well, coupled with the fact that you have no proof I believe you would find nothing your life was missing in God.
