Finally - First release of BitComet 1.0.
And what did we get? Well, to say it short: Nothing.
BitComet 1.0 BETA is nothing but a clone, plus a few small adjustments, of BitComet 0.99.
The releaselog is as following:
- GUI Improved: move "add torrent to my sharing" check box in BT task properties dialog to Advanced page
- GUI Improved: new command in Tools menu: check software update
- GUI Improved: new command in context menu of Peer list: Remove peer
- GUI Improved: new command in context menu of Tracker list: Remove tracker
- GUI Bugfix: puase and resume preview video file will lead to exit full-screen mode
- GUI Bugfix: Refresh button in toolbar of BitComet resource browser does not work
- Core Improved: update TCP half open limit modification for Windows Vista
- Core Bugfix: Long-Time Seeding does not stop when Scheduler pause all download
- Core Bugfix: BitComet resource browser cannot download video files embedded in webpage after install IE7
When we take the time into consideration, that is: two months, then that changelog is very small. Where is the huge bugfixes to the core?
Where is the long-requested possibility to make BitComet announce as a BitTorrent client as it is supposed to? Where is the fix to the user-agent that'll automatically do, so BitComet is unbanned on many trackers? I could go on and on. It's like the developers could care less about their western users. Instead they broad us small and useless additions to the interface. You can now actually remove a tracker from the "tracker list"... And you can not just BAN a peer, now you can also "remove" it - how that is working, I can't say. Of course, we have one needed bugfix: "update TCP half open limit modification for Windows Vista".... Still, we have a problem on Windows XP. Do you also constantly get a balloon saying: "BitComet detect your half-open TCP limit is too low. Click here to patch"?
To be honest, I'm extremely disappointed . I really hope they'll improve BitComet 1.0 before releasing it as a final. BitComet 1.0 is a milestone - and therefore the huge announceproblems SHOULD get fixed! This is very, very aggravating.
Of course, BitComet is free and I appreciate their work - still, I think they have some kind of responsibility to their users. If the software can't work with many trackers, then fix it! And fix it fast before their users and the software get banned.
I could tear my hair off. I'll wait though.. I still believe in BitComet 1.0 final. We have hope, fellows!
Let's hope!
