Ok, I am totally new to bitcomet and I don't have any idea if this will get read or not, but if for no other reason but to shout it to the universe, I have to say..
I finally figured it out. Days of slow downloads and beating my head against the desk and I finally got the listening port open.
I set up port forwarding and port triggering and did all the settings in BC that they said to and it still wasn't working. Well, I kept looking and kept looking and found that I had this tiny IE (which I don't even use) adware toolbar installed and it was blocking everything.
I went in and looked for a setting and there wasn't anything, but then I realized it was an IE toolbar and I don't use IE and I looked at the log and nothing had been scanned or deleted since 2004 so I uninstalled it and boom, fixed. Yes, old computer, I know. It's the kitchen desktop.
So, if you think you have set everything up correctly and it still isn't working then go scouring your computer for anything that might be blocking. Adware and virus programs are a good place to start. Keep looking, you'll find it.
