One of my all time favorite bands is Pink Floyd. They probably represent 10% of all my music listening. They have such a wide range of sound and meaning the right album can accentuate any mood. Help you feel what you need to feel when you need it. Mad, Sad, Happy or Glad. Calming you down or cranking you up. Pink Floyd has the music you need to get you through the moment. There are definitely some albums that are much more popular, and rightfully so, then others, but having the entire collection I can certainly attest to the fact that they all have their time and place. This picture certainly sums up some of their best works.
Left to right: Atom Heart Mother 1970, Relics 1967-69, The Dark Side of the Moon 1990, Wish you were here 1975, The Wall 1979, Animals 1977.
The band made so many albums it’s close to impossible to list them all, especially when taking the non-studio compilations into account. However they have all been on the UK and the US charts safe for A Saucer Full of Secrets 1968. Pink Floyd albums are definite timeless pieces of art. So for the new generation of music lovers out there that have not been exposed to this band I urge you to give it a try.
Albums like The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish you were here are easy "first-time listen-and-like" albums. If you’re more into videos the psychogenic The Wall is an instant like as well. (Not to encourage it, but if you can get a hold if some good old time acid for when you watch it, it’s that much better) If it’s live concerts that you fancy try The Delicate Sounds of Thunder. I guaranty these will win you over and open a whole new range of sound for your repertoire. Not to mention the tons of cool artwork that comes with each album.
That's it for my band review this week, till next time please give it a try and enjoy listening, you won't regret it.
