Ever since Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters, I’m not in the least bit surprised to see the words “movie” and “Adult Swim” put together. After all, if someone can make a movie from a fifteen-minute chaotic cartoon, they can pretty much make a movie from anything.
Fortunately, Adult Swim has a lot more going for it than talking meatballs, shakes, and fries. The next project to come from the late night cartoon festival will be Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody, based on the animated series Bleach, which is in turn based on the manga series. The story follows the adventures of Ichigo, a high school student who discovers he has the ability to see ghosts, and Rukia, a Soul Reaper who hunts down evil spirits.
The press release for the film, Memories of Nobody, announced that the feature film would see limited theatrical release this summer, mostly in major cities, and then come out with a winter 2008 DVD release.
Personally, I’ve never gotten into the whole anime scene, and other members of our writing staff out-and-out detest it, so this is probably the most comprehensive report you’ll get on the upcoming movie from us.
