I think just about everyone has had it with the title of the next James Bond adventure, Quantum of Solace. Finally the movie is getting attention for something other than its name, although it’s still not something good. The famed car of the franchise, the Aston Martin, is proving a little more difficult to work with for this movie… so difficult the car wound up underwater.
Apparently the new Aston Martin (worth $250,000) was being delivered to a filming location near Italy’s Lake Garda. The driver reportedly lost control and the car wound up crashing through a safety barrier and into the lake. Variety reports the driver sustained only minor injuries, and was due to be released from the hospital on Sunday.
I know what you’re thinking – hopefully they captured the wreck on film so it can be integrated into the movie without being a complete quarter-of-a-million loss. No such luck. Remember, it was on the way to the set and hadn’t been filmed at all.
I’m sure plenty of things will be blamed for this car, from Italian roads to the driver, but I’m going to blame the stupid name of the Bond picture. Expect more disasters like this to happen until the name is changed. Quantum of Solace is a cursed title.
