New Images Show Hulk In Action

Remember how last week I suggested that The Hulk needed a shot in the arm of good buzz, and fast? Well, these new images from the latest Empire magazine might be just that. Shown over at ComicBookMovie.com, the two movie stills and the dynamic cover give a sense of immediacy and, well, awesomeness to the upcoming Hulk that make it once again feel like a must-see movie of the summer.

The cover is the most striking, and probably even more so in real life, where it pops out in 3D. The Hulk, in all his greened-out, super-angry glory, is tearing his way through the cover, cracking what appears to be concrete and pretty much coming right at you. Yeah, sounds kind of terrifying in real life—anyone got a copy they want to lend me?

The two stills, seen inside the magazine, show off the dichotomy that seems to be operating in the movie as a whole. One shows Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) and one true love Betty Ross (Liv Tyler) exploring a creepy laboratory, looking at a refrigerator that’s full of… guns? Pig hearts? Some Hulk experts might be able to help me out here. The other image is a full-size shot of The Hulk, towering above a military officer. Even though he’s a completely CGI character, he looks perfectly good standing there in that field.

Will this be enough to quiet the industry-wide murmurings that Edward Norton is single-handedly ruining the movie? Probably not, but it should definitely satisfy the fanboys who were pumped up by the trailer but were left wanting more. We’ll only know on June 13 if The Incredible Hulk will live up to the hype, good or bad, but all of these images are a promising sign. Check out small versions of the images below, or head to Empire Online for the high-quality images.
