People have scars in all sorts of unexpected places, like secret road maps of their personal histories, diagrams of all their old wounds.
Most of our old wounds heal, leaving nothing behind but a scar. But some of them don'T.
Some wounds we carry with us everywhere, and though the cut's long gone...The pain still lingers.
What's worse, new wounds, which are so horribly painful... Or old wounds that should've healed years ago and never did? Maybe our old wounds teach us something. They remind us of where we've been and what we've overcome. They teach us lessons about what to avoid in the future. That's what we like to think.But that's not the way it is, is it? Some things we just have to learn over and over and over again.
La gente ha cicatrici nei posti meno immaginabili, come mappe di strade segrete delle loro storie personali, diagrammi di tutte le loro vecchie ferite.Molte delle nostre vecchie ferite guariscono, lasciando solo delle cicatrici. Ma alcune di loro no. Alcune ferite ce le portiamo dappertutto e sebbene il taglio è sparito da un pezzo... Il Dolore perdura ancora.
Cio' che è peggio, nuove ferite, che sono così terribilmente dolorose o vecchie ferite che avresti dovuto rimarginare anni fa e non l'hai mai fatto. Forse le nostre vecchie ferite ci insegnano qualcosa. Ci ricordano dove siamo stati e cosa abbiamo superato. Ci impartiscono lezioni su cosa dobbiamo evitare in futuro. Questo è ciò che ci piace pensare. Alcune cose dobbiamo impararle ancora...ancora e ancora.
