Day of sorrow:
One day before Israel's 60th Independence Day celebrations, the State
of Israel is honoring the memory of its fallen soldiers and victims of
terrorism.
Remembrance Day opened with a minute-long nationwide siren, as
Israelis observed a moment of silence in memory of 22,437 casualties
starting from 1860 to the beginning of May of this year. The figure
includes 1,634 people killed in terror attacks.
