After seeing so many people asking for help to eliminate the orange health light associated with their wan listening port, I decided I would write this in hopes some of you can resolve your download issues and experience a better download.
To begin I must tell you I had the same problem is why I went to the forum seeking resolution. When I didn't find any help I ventured out on my own determined to solve this. What I did actually solved the problem, not only for bitcomet but also for azureus.
1) I reset my router to its default (should be a reset on you router)
2) To access the configuration of your router (some may be different, I found my router ip address by default to be http://192.168.1.1/
3) Select Options (on the bitcomet download window page) and check the "Enable UPnP port mapping (Windows XP Only) )This also works with Vista (I run Vista)
4) Check Remove port on NAT/Firewall when exiting (Windows XP Only) also works with Vista (I run Vista)
Once you have done that;
5) Select "Start, Run, Enter the ip address for your router (if you don't know and can't find it you might try using http://192.168.1.1/ default ip address. If it doesn't work it will not hurt anything. If that ip address does work then contiue
6) Enter "admin" in the username field
7) Enter "admin" in the password field
--- Advanced Settings ---
8) Select UPnP -
9) Select Enabled
exit out from your router configuration menu
reboot your system
start bitcomet (or Azureus)
I hope this works for you like it did for me. My download/upload speed has more than trippled...
