Today I made Second Lieutenant. Guess I'm still going up! (to where?...)
I went back to Morrowind today. Such a game, incredible music, great gameplay, terrific in almost every way. I got Oblivion, but it's kind of borring: too monotonous. Everywhere you look there are forests, forests, mountaing WITH forests, and lake-side forests. I expected to see the beginings of the Else Where dessert (or desert? think sand), perhaps the great swamps of Argonia, the massive trees of Valenwood, the ashlands of Morrowind (or what remains of them...), but no, the unimaginative at Bethesda went with forests as far as the eye can see... And the main quest didn't help, so repetitive... Even if Shivering Isles compensates for everything (great expansion, WOW, a must have), it is still the only expansion (sorry Knights, you're more of a plugin
) available, and frankly, Morrowind was considrably better exploited. However, Morrowind is limiting... Without the script-spell function (finally someone thought out of the box!), the radiant AI, or Havok physics engine, the game is not as juicy as Oblivion COULD be. An exporter from Morrowind to Oblivion would be a blessing! I always complained the Telvanni Architecture (capitalized, yes, it deserves respect) should have been carried on. On the other hand, there are plugins surfacing from Morrowind lovers (like me) that attempt to recreate the fancyness of Oblivion with the core of Morrowind (Morrowind Graphics Extender....). Anyhow, too much Is in this post and it's getting late...
