Summary
The DSF Unofficial StarGate Simulator is a realistic simulator for
ArmA, our aim is to create a StarGate that is as close to the one
portrayed in the SG-1 / Atlantis series as possible.
The current beta Gate supports the following features:
- Fully Dynamic Gate Simulation (not just a mission prop)
- Demolecularization at the event horizion (only StarGate mod to achive this)
- Fully self contained for custom mission creation (no complicated
scripts to write, just drop into your custom maps or missions and your
away)
- Actual dialable DHD and SGC base computer (create your own gate addresses, any combination possible)
- Full Wormhole Sequence
- Active Transport Programming (will transport bullets, props, even ambient life such as bugs)
- Many More... Feel free to ask away or even ask us to incorperate new features for you.
Ever since the first incarnation of the mod origanally made by BXBX
and Honza SG-1 for Operation Flashpoint in 2005; a large community has
built up, at one time being the most descussed mod in OFP history. In
November 2005 DSF productions was granted permission to modify the
addon and after a complete rewrite of the base code we began to make
the Stargate MP compatible. This objective was completed, but since
then we have aspired to make the stargate simulator more realsitic to
the TV series.
The 1.3 stargate system was released for Operation Flashpoint and
included manual dialing features, working GDO, Automatic Iris
protection, and the wormhole sequence. Since this point the development
of the stargate has had two working versions, BXBX V1 gate is quick and
simple to use, but lacking aspects of realsim, while the DSF gate has a
boosted relativism factor.
Towards the end of 2006, the DSF team annonced that the 1.4 beta
version of the stargate would be the last version of the stargate,
released for operation flashpoint. BXBX then released a beta of all of
his work so far including the much wanted Area 52 addon, Malp pack and
stargates V2. All efforts of the team are now focused on getting the
gates to the Armed Assault engine.
The ARMA-SGC community site is located at Stargateassault.net, this
site allows the users of the mod to submit their own addons and
missions to the Mod as well has vote on new features and activly mold
the development of the Gate system. Notable mission makers include Matt
SG-3, and Colonel Well.
The presence of the Gates within ArmA has kick started a whole
StarGate Mod; Units, Ships, Rings and Maps are all being developed by a
handful of inderviduals with the goal of combining everything into one
huge stratgic multiplayer game; code named SG:CE. SG:CE is
being designed around the concept of 2-3 sides, all batteling to
control a group of 10-40 planets, resource mining, artifact gathering
and even using the planets local population for you own ends. Possible
sides include: Tauri, Gou'ld, Wraith, Ori, Jaffa.
Plans are also in place to look into cross server gameplay,
meaning the StarGate will transport teams from server to server and
could literally explore a unlimited number of worlds (99% of the code
is already in place); this maybe possible when the mod is moved to the
ArmA II Engine.
DSF Productions is also
pleased to announce the continuation of or 'StarGate:Challenged
Empries' Total Conversion, now for ArmA and ArmA II
The TC will be focused mainly on Multiplayer Gameplay and on large
campaign scale battles between rival forces competing for territory,
with the join in progress functionality its possible for games to span
from hours to days.
Gameplay will be very loosely based on CTI, it will incorperate
resource and intellegence gathering as well as planet / space combat
and a degree of experiance base skills.
We've yet to truely decide what were going to incoperate as it
possibilities are endless but we've decided to release 'Episodes' for
ArmA which will introduce players to the various game concepts and
planets they'll encounter in the SG:CE.
The 'Episodes' will be multiplayer missions used to build up the
SG:CE Story Arc and each will focus on one area of gameplay the player
will need when playing the finshed TC.
