Hi

Is there a way to pick up existing emule downloads? I notice that there's a preferences.ini, similar to emule.
downloads.txt seems to map the .part to the ed2k link, so I would be able to 'build' that file.
What ties the torrent to the .part file? Can those linkages be manually built?

Cheers

I've downloaded the Plugin today , and using eMule client as well.. and I've a few question to ask!
how do I know it's utilizing the ED2K network? and by looking at the "Client type" it's all Torrent client.
Is there a way I can add a ed2k link instead of torrent only? e.g. ed2k://|file| ***
is there any configration to be done beside "Enable" the plugins?

Thanks

I figured some stuff out...

go to task manager and see if plugin_emule is running, if it isn't then it isn't being automatically launched which is slightly worrying.
It launches in hidden mode, so now go to the plugin_emule folder and run the executable again
If you're familiar with emule, it will all make sense to you.
First thing I did was go to the servers tab, and clean it up.. I don't know where they got server.met from, but it contains a lot of rubbish.
Next, if you're not using a decent firewall with a decent block list, I would suggest you get the latest ipfilter.dat and install it.... make the window wider, tools, ipfilter etc etc.. http://www.emule-mods.de/ carries the latest version.
now, this is where it all gets a little hazy for me... maybe someone else who has this working fully can put me straight if I'm wrong...
in my transfers tab, I have a file... that's good, however, it isn't automatically logging on to a server.
If I choose one manually, then it connects (and I get a high id), I also connect to KAD.

The file then starts transferring (if you're lucky).

Now, I tried to cheat... I copied a .part file from another version of emule, hoping that the client would pick it up and import the missing parts, but that doesn't work. It never actually creates a large temp file, but appears to create a little one as a place holder.

If you remember the edonkey torrent plug in, that used the edonkey file as the master, and the torrent plugin imported more parts into the .part file. With this plugin, the torrent is the master, and it imports (or appears to) parts from the edonkey network file.

For files it has matched, it creates a entry is downloads.txt

If it is working, you will see the speed column in the emule client transfers tab pop into life, and the summary in bitcomet will show something like:

Download Rate: 70 kB/s, Downloaded bytes:37.35 MB, including HTTP/FTP source:0 kB/s(0 , ED source:25 kB/s(6 MB)

One more thing.. if you go into the properties of a download, and to the advanced tab, if the search for... boxes are greyed, then it's a private tracker and you can't download from ed2k.

Good luck if you decide to accept this mission.... this message will self-destruct in ...5....4..

Has anyone figured out how to force a join to a file in emule? The emule plugin isn't finding an matches, but I know for 100% certain that there are matches out there. I even have the ed2k links.

RTFM (or the changes list anyway):

GUI Improved: specify ED2K link from context menu in file list of BT task, to help ED plugin search ED download resource

First thing is that is isn't edonkey, but emule. emule is an open source and much enhanced program that uses the edonkey network. Since the plugin is just a slightly modified version of emule 0.48a, the best place to start is http://www.emule-project.net/ .

Bear in mind that unless you manually run the executable a second time the emule client won't pop up.

Use the search (using global servers) to find the files you want (dbcs is supported in the search), then, copy the ed2k links for the ones you know match to the clipboard, then add them as a source per my post above.

An ed2k link looks like:

ed2k://|file|Filename.ext|987654321|ADC7D018CE29123425612347B1234123|/

the 987654321 is the size in bytes of the file. If you compare this with the part downloaded file you have as a torrent, you can usually use this as a good guide for matching them up. It doesn't always work, but usually it does.

Read my big post on page 1 of this thread for some extra info on configuration too.

Enjoy
