hello,

did you check the seed & peers, if you try downloading a torrent without seeders or only one, you must wait this one is in the swarm

I have v1.02 and that same thing is happening to me, how is that explained now?

you downlaod error data.

stop it,and hash check again.

nekroman47 (nekroman) Mon Jul 7, 08 07:58 AM

I do that, but it just hangs at around 97 percent completed, and I have plenty of seeders/peers, download rate is up to 90 kbs and the file is only 45mb. I've been watching it do this for 2 days.

(Because I don't feel like repeating myself, I'll just copy/paste what I wrote on my blog. ;-) )

The Long-time seeding feature is a new system, but BitComet lacks one feature. It doesn't block "Bad-peers" in the long-time seeding swarm!

What does that mean?

That means: You can download a torrent, and when your torrent reach about 90-99%, your client keeps downloading data, but the torrent will never reach 100%! Maybe it will, but with the cost of having downloaded several of extra data (in some instances; Gigabytes.).

Why does it do that?

I haven't analyzed it technically, but after what I can observe, the high-speed long-time peers drown the good BitTorrent-peers in the swarm. That means BitComet will prioritize the "high-speed long-time seeder peers" in advance of the "normal" BitTorrent swarm.

The problem is just that some of these "high-speed long-time seeder-peers" are sending BAD DATA to you. When it does that, BitComet will continually fail the hash-check of a downloaded piece and re-download it in an infinite loop until that bad peer disconnects (and if it's a server; it'll never disconnect, and BitComet will never finish the download.).

A work-around when you encounter the problem described above is to, of course, disable the feature. You do that like this:

Right-click on your task --> Choose "Properties" --> Now, on that screen, remove the mark from: "Search for HTTP/FTP Download Source". Now, click OK and do a "Manual Hash-check". (Right-click on your task and choose: "Manual hash-check")

Continue your task. It should now finish within short time.

I've reported this directly to the developers, and they've responded that they'll look through the code and improve the hash-check algorithm. Let's hope it gets fixed in BitComet V. 1.03.

Best regards,

XSTREM.

I just saw your screenshot.

It doesn't seem like you're connected to any "high-speed long time seeder-peers."

-

That means it's one of the BitTorrent peers that keep sending Bad data to you. I thought BitComet automatically blocked bad-peers from the swarm, but I see now it doesn't.

-

The only thing you can do is to STOP the task and do a manual hash-check. If that doesn't fix the problem, it seems like BitComet has downloaded and accepted a bad-data package. Now, it starts to "contradict" itself. The package fails the hash-check, but BitComet wants to keep the package, because it thinks the package is okay. So it keeps re-downloading good packages, but those good packages aren't what BitComet is looking for, and it'll just freeze in the same %-amount, and re-download packages. (That is of course only a logic conjecture, but it's the only explanation of the phenomenon I can think of.)

-

If that is so, delete the task ONLY and re-download the torrent where you found it. Point the torrent to the folder with the unfinished files. BitComet should automatically begin a hash-check and continue downloading as normal.

-

Report back and say if it helped. If it did, my conjecture might be correct.

XSTREM.

i did tried before like you said.. delete the task then redownload it at the same folder.. it still same, the data will just freeze like what i mentioned.

http://www.tocomet.com/post/42614/

after i've read the abovementioned link, i tried to rollback to v0.70, i think it works, here's the image...

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/3051/15642739ow6.gif

it download every data normally.. but it look slower than newer version.. newer version seem not very stable? buggy?

and 1 more question.. what version allow us to view the snapshots? v0.70 dont have snapshots feature, and newer version only shows up advertisements -.-"

Thanks
