In the run up to the Space Race to put a man into space, the Americans went ahead no holds bard.  They poured Millions of Dollars into designing a space suit.  God only knows how much the first rocket cost all told.!  They even went as far as spending Thousands of Dollars into inventing, desinging and putting together a pen that could write upside down or at any angle without the nib running dry.

Now don't get me wrong because the U.S.S.R. (as it was then Russia) Were doing exactly the same thing.  Naturally they would have a different system for this and that but all in all prety much the same thing.  However the Russians saved thousands of Dollars on the pen (no they didn't nick it).  They simply used a PENCIL!  So much for American forethought, well you've got to laugh.
